After sailing 2000 miles down the west coast of Europe, Ohana was attacked by a pod of Orca just off Lisbon, Portugal yesterday! Crew is fine, no damage to the hull but the Orca bit off the end of the rudder. Ugh!! 😤 After throttling up the pod lost interest and went to another boat. Just crazy!! Ohana is now in Cascais Marina where she will be hauled out on Monday to see if we can repair or replace the rudder and stay with our passage plan. Apparently in this area attacks are becoming so common they have “Orca Technicians” who specialize in rudder repairs. Wish us luck!
